Background
When not using a 5c 5C or D1 mount chuck on the 15L or 8L, you may find yourself running a part , that you may need to just get a touch closer to the collet. In this case, we you can adjust the software limits , to allow you to get that little extra slightly more travel.
Caution! Adjusting the soft limits , leave leaves you more prone to machine crashes. Proceed Only adjust the soft limits when absolutely necessary. After you’ve made the adjustment, proceed with caution , and make sure to test run your programs after adjusting limits.
Soft Limit Adjustment Process
All of the adjustments are made from the MDI, on the “Main” tab of PathPilot, using an ADMIN command, seen below:

After entering a command, like the one seen above, simply press enter. You will then see the following message on the “Status” tab:

To enter a command, changing the X Axis limits, simply replace “Z” with “X”.
You can also utilize the MDI line to show what your current limits are: (ADMIN SHOW_SOFT_LIMITS)

Adjust Soft Limits
From the PathPilot interface, in the MDI Line DRO field on the Main tab, type ADMIN_SET_Z_LIMIT [NUMBER] or ADMIN_SET_X_LIMIT [NUMBER].
For example, to adjust the soft limit of the Z-axis to 16 in., type ADMIN SET_Z_LIMIT 16.Select the Enter key on the keyboard. The current limits display on the Status tab.
View Current Soft Limits
In the MDI Line DRO field, type ADMIN SHOW_SOFT_LIMITS.
The current limits display on the Status tab.
Reset Soft Limits
In the MDI Line DRO field, type ADMIN RESET_SOFT_LIMITS.
